Scouting History
Lord Robert Badent Powell had been a general in the British army. This brought fame to his name. He wanted to use this fame to create a program which would take a boy and turn him into a man, teaching him life skills, survival skills, and morals. He also wanted this program to be an enjoyable experience.

In 1907, the first Boy Scout Camp was held at Brownsea Island. The campout had success written all over it. This success inspired Powell to write a book called Scouting for Boys. The book became an instant bestseller. Thousands of boys read it and wanted to join the Boy Scouts. Scouting Spread not only throughout England, but throughout the world.

We Used The Boy Scout Handbook 11th Edition as our source.
