The Pledge of Allegiance
I Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
In America, you have probably recited those words alot, but do you reall know what you re saying. We break it down for you in our own words.
I pledge allegiance- I promise my loyalty
to the flag- to the symbol
of the united states of america- the country in which I live
and to the republic- a country which allows us to elect who represents us and who makes our laws
for which it stands- the flag stands for this country
one nation under God- a country where we are given religious freedom
indivisible- a country which cannot split into parts
with liberty and justice- with freedom and fairness
for all- for every citizen in this country
However, the Boy Scout handbook has a slightly different way of rewording it.
I pledge allegiance- I promise to be true
to the flag- to the symbol of our country
of the United States of America- a country made up of fifty states and several territories, each with rights of its own
and to the republic- a country where the people elect representatives from among themselves to make laws for them.
for which it stands- the flag represents the country
one nation under GOD- a country whose people are free to believe in God
indivisible- the country cannot be split into parts
with liberty and justice- with freedom and fairness
for all- for every person in the country
